The holiday season is here and we all want to see our loved ones, especially if we haven’t done so since the pandemic started. However, the extremely contagious omicron variant is rapidly spreading across the UK so it is important to still take precautions.
- Wear Your Mask
Covid fatigue is a very real thing, but wearing a mask is an easy act that protects you and those around you. Plus, you can get them in a wide range of designs that reflect your personality and can make your outfit really pop! When you wear a mask, ensure that it covers your mouth AND your nose. If you wear glasses and are worried about a mask fogging up your lenses, you can get masks with nose wires that will keep the mask close against your face. This should reduce any fogging.
- Wash Those Hands
Practising good hygiene can greatly stop the spread of many germs and viruses, including the coronavirus. Wash your hands often and for at least 20 seconds. Carry hand sanitiser with you in public and wipe down communal surfaces at home because the virus can cling to surfaces.
- Limit Time Spent in Crowded or Confined Spaces
One of the best ways to avoid catching or spreading the coronavirus is by avoiding crowded spaces. This is especially true if the space has poor ventilation. If it isn’t too cold, try to see friends and families outdoors or in large spaces with proper ventilation.
- Get Your Symptoms Checked Out
Winter is when many of us catch colds, flus, and other viruses so you might be tempted to ignore that persistent cough. Different strains of COVID-19 can cause different symptoms so if you are feeling unwell and may have been exposed, you should seek out COVID-19 testing ASAP.
- Get Vaccinated
COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective and whilst some people may experience mild symptoms after the vaccine, these are nearly always short lived. When compared to COVID-19 symptoms and its potential long-term complications, the benefits of the vaccine far outweigh the risks.
